Subject: Ascend the Memory Roleplay Part 1 Wed Nov 16, 2011 8:52 pm

Organization XIII wants to wipe their involvement from the worlds after Sora’s assassination. So they begin retracing their steps. Exavier leaves the Organization to be able to seal any open keyholes after they clear out. He doesn’t trust who they sent to seal them. So he opens them and seals them after they go through. He is checking for any tampering with the heart itself.
They decide they need to find Xadria to get her to track down Exavier. Xadria has no problem finding Exavier. Organization XIII is trying to find a way to control the heartless. They find out that they needed Sora and get mad at Exavier who killed Sora under their orders. They learn that they can keep the Hearts of each kingdom off-world and the kingdom will still survive. They make a place called The Vault and lock all the hearts in it and keep it heavily guarded.
Organization XIII splits and gets in a huge battle over who should control The Vault and the heartless.

It is up to Kaine, Exavier, and their team to take down the Organization and seal the worlds.

Early morning on a small island..

Kaine cracked his tired eyes open as the sun streamed through the window. It was a peaceful day on his little island, and he felt relaxed after a night of sleep.
His memories being wiped clean, he only knew that he was a sixteen year old boy who had a friend named Elly. They protected eachother for as long as he knew.
Using a wooden sword that he carved from a branch of the sturdiest tree he could find, he protected Elly.

Until one day, darkness covered the skies. The sun was blotted out by shadows. Dark creatures begin to advance on the small village, and started their brutal destruction, showing no remorse.

Kaine stood protectively in front of Elly, makeshift sword raised. As one of the creatures moved towards him, he swung the sword, which sailed through the creature with ease, no resistance at all. The creature moved its shadowy body as if rebounding the hit, and stood up claws raised. Thats when a hooded figure came out of nowhere cutting the creature down.

Exavier stood looking at the first keyhole he ever unlocked. He was there through the pain of every world as Organization XIII carved out their hearts to draw out the heartless. He wanted to atone for the murder of the masterkey holder, whose blood soaked his hands. He flinched at the very thought of Sora. He was too young to get caught up in the war that destroyed worlds. Entire worlds were swallowed in darkness but Sora was the one everyone blamed when it happened. The masterkey holder was supposed to seal them so they couldn't be swallowed.
The small island on this world drew Exavier here. At first he thought it was because the keyhole wasn't sealed, but when he found it was, he was drawn away from it. He saw a young boy with jet black hair peppered with silver streaks and emerald eye, guarding a young girl. Several heartless surrounded them. The boy used a small wooden sword to slash at the closest heartless. Exavier summoned the masterkey, and brought it down on the heartless. He saw the young boy tense and put his arm out to guard the girl. The masterkey pulled against Exavier's hand, it called to this boy.

Kaine stood strong, not leaving Elly's side.
The Keyblade that the hooded figure held suddenly appeared in his hand and he felt like his heart desired the Keyblade. This is when he realized it chose him. Wielding the new weapon, he swung forward, striking all of the heartless around him. They fell and dissipated into black shadows. Thats when it happened. He heard a loud roar, and sensed something behind them. Hundreds and hundreds of Heartless began to mesh together to create a colossal being. "I'm Kaine, and this is Elly. Who are you?" Kaine asked the hooded figure, who held the Keyblade previously.

The colossal Heartless advanced towards them still growing, absorbing every heartless nearby. It reached out and slammed its massive arm into Kaines stomach, sending him soaring. He flew through the air and landed on his back. He began to bleed from his mouth and pant heavily.

Elly shook in sheer fear. The monster that appeared behind them was still growing in size, and she knew that Kaine couldn't handle it alone. She felt a thumping in her heart, and a voice in her head. She closed her shining blue eyes, and the sound of chimes could be heard. Twin blades appeared in either hand and she spun majestically, her eyes changing from blue to a soft white.

"I am Exavier." Exavier said summoning his own keyblade. The massive heartless beast was still roaring. "Elly. Calm yourself." he said sensing growing tension in the young girl. He swung his blade and formed a dark aura. The dark powers he knew would attract the heartless. Exavier looked up and saw the only peak on the island. "Both of you, get up there, Elly watch Kaine. Don't let him slip with all these heartless here." he saw confusion cross the girls face. "Go, I will explain later!" he roared, he voice getting extremely deep and intimidating.

Kaine jumped up and broke out of the shock, nodding at Exavier. "We'll get up there as fast as we can!" Kaine took off, Elly trailing him. He made sure to watch out and he cut down many heartless. He got close to the mountain trail which he knew very well, that winded up to the peak. Slashing at the heartless, and dodging falling rocks he managed to get halfway up the peak.

Elly had no choice but to follow her friend. "Thank you Sir!" She shouted and took off after Kaine, both keyblades spinning rapidly as she ran, cutting down as many enemies as she could. Both boys realized that she had strong magical energy, because her blades literally drew the wind around them, using the wind to cut down heartless as well. When Kaine stopped she nearly ran into him, and she noticed why he stopped. There was yet another giant heartless. But this one was different, it had an aura of hatred about it the other one didn't. This one had a strong sense of the world, and the hearts were freshly removed. This one was still partially conscious of its human form.

Exavier thought, I have done nothing worth thanking yet. That mountain will test both of you. Then he turned and faced the mass of heartless that still hadn't stopped growing. He spun his blade in his hand and ran at it. Instead of turning when he approached it he began to run up it. It attempted to swat at him and he slashed at it getting his blade stuck in it. It pulled him up to eye level and he leaped and caught it in the side of the neck. He swung round so he was directly behind its head and switched the aura on his blade. A bright white light shown from somewhere inside his blade and he swung it at the beast. The creature was melting, fading away in the light even before he hit it. The heartless beast melted away out from under Exavier and as it did he back-flipped off of it and began to follow them up the mountain.

Kaine jumped onto the arm of the giant, and ran up it. He jumped and landed on the beast's shoulder, slashing at its neck and face. The blade was doing some heavy damage, but the beast kept repairing itself. Out of nowhere, a large blast of Chaos energy shot from the beast's eye and hit Kaine full force. He fell off and hit the ground, bleeding from his chest and spurting blood from his mouth.

Elly went into a rage and jumped, spinning violently, the vine that was on Elegant Rose lashed out and wrapped around the beast's entire form, shredding it to pieces. The beast turned into a mound of blobby shadows, and dispersed. She then ran to Kaine and placed a hand on him, without realizing it, her hands shone a bright silver light and Kaine's wounds were healed. Afterward, she passed out.

Exavier ran up the mountain and saw both of the kids lying on the ground. A group of heartless surrounding them. In one sweeping arc he slashed them all down and picked both of them up, on in each arm. He noted a small mark in the middle of a scorched part of Kaine's stomach, and a burn on her hand. We got a little magician here do we? Exavier thought. He charged up to the peak of the mountain. The heartless were climbing up the mountain from all sides. Exavier saw them coming and began to get tense, there was a rumbling under his feet. He jumped to the other side of the peak and slid part way down the mountain and just managed to stop and catch both Kaine and Elly when suddenly the other side of the mountain exploded out, sending magma flowing across the small island. The village below was swallowed up. A dark aura was surrounding the magma. Exavier looked at the two young kids in each arm and said "I'm sorry." He teleported them to Traverse Town where he had a small apartment. He placed Kaine on the couch and Elly on the bed, and kept watch over them all through the night,watching as a star, that he knew was their world, went out.

Kaine slept for a very long time, dreaming about the destruction of his world. Elly?! Where was she now? All he could remember was getting knocked out by a huge heartless he was fighting to protect Elly. What happened to that Exavier guy? Why couldn't he wake up? He didn't know. After that, it was all darkness.

Elly's eyes flickered open, and the first thing she noticed was her burnt hand, and that she wasn't on the island anymore. She was in some room, lying on a rather comfortable bed. "W-Where am I?" she asked quietly unsure if anyone would hear her. She began to look around, and saw Kaine resting on a couch. "I hope he's okay.." Elly remembered everything as it came to her in a dream. How was she so powerful? "Exavier?" she called out.

"Calm down." Exavier said as he stood in the doorway to the living room. "I'm making breakfast." He added. He didn't want to explain everything twice, but there was information that was relevant to only her. Her keyblade type was a big one,and her obvious affinity for magic was another. However, to the later, Exavier wasn't much help. He couldn't even control his own magic, and wasn't sure if their world being destroyed was his fault. The volcano shouldn't have erupted for at least another three to four-hundred years. He noticed that Elly was hovering over Kaine, unwilling to leave her friend. "He'll wake up soon." Exavier said trying to ease her mind. "At this point, he's not even out because of the injury, the key speaks to him in his dreams. He will be a lot stronger once he wakes."

Kaine suddenly saw himself in a new world, with the Keyblade in his hand. Hundreds of heartless darted at him from all sides and he did everything he could to reach Elly, he saw her far off in the distance, next to a crater. He ran towards her but started to feel weighed down, as if his legs were full of lead. A heartless managed to dig its sharp claws into his right calf, and he turned and slashed it away. He cut through swarms of them to no avail. They just kept coming. When he finally reached Elly, it seemed as if she got further away, he reached his free hand out but she slowly started fading, and the dream changed. He was in a room of all white, and he was alone. The walls started to turn black and he was again in the darkness of his own Heart. The last words he heard were: The Key seeks the Brave and chooses its Master.

Elly smiled in spite of herself and nodded. "Thank you Exavier." she began to calm down and she stood up, stretching. She walked out towards Exavier to talk to him in the kitchen while Kaine rested. "What was that light that came from me?" She asked him, obviously confused. She was very young after all, and she was terrified.

"That light was magic." Exavier said amid working on breakfast. "Specifically speaking it was a healing spell." Exavier paused letting it sink in. "You are here because you are tied with Him. The key chose him, it chooses its own master." he added. "Your strong feelings towards him made you his guardian, but be careful, even though you are chosen to protect him he will still try to protect you, putting him in harms way." he looked away, they are so like Sora and Kairi. he thought. "The universe needs the masterkey holder to survive, its now his job to watch over the Kingdom Hearts." He paused again but this time it was to let her realize Kaine was stirring. Exavier had projected himself into Kaine's dreams and pulled him out of the darkness within him. At great expense to himself.

Kaine felt something strong pull him to consciousness. His emerald eyes began to open, and he looked around confused. Nobody was in the room with him, and he was lying on a couch. He defientely wasn't on his island anymore and he suddenly realized what he saw wasn't just a dream. All of it happened just as he saw it. Exavier and Elly's voices could be heard in the Kitchen and Kaine got up, and walked into the kitchen slowly. "Hey guys..What happened?" he then smelled the breakfast Exavier was making and realized the worried look in Elly's eyes. "That looks really good man." he commented, and then looked to Elly "Whats wrong dear?" he asked in a caring voice.

Elly sighed in relief, letting everything Exavier told her sink in. "Magic..is real?" she couldn't grasp the concept. He had to be right, she thought. How else would I be able to heal him? "Kaine..are you really okay? I was so worried about you!" her voice trembled as she spoke.

Exavier ignored their touching display as he set the table. His mind wandered among his past and stopping on him and Xadria together. He often wondered how she was and wondered if she still cared about him. Surely she had heard about Sora and was disgusted by how it happened.

Exavier had went to their island, Kairi and Sora's. He found Kairi alone in her bed and took her down to where her and Sora had drawn each other sharing the paopu fruit. Several of the younger, lower ranked Organization XIII members were with him. Sora woke up and, obviously finding Kairi not in her bed, came to find her. She had spent several of her sleepless nights down near the keyhole, it was the one place she felt close to Sora without waking him from his sleep. As he walked into the cave she cried out for him, my keyblade fell, and she fell silent.

Exavier awoke from his flashback at the sound of one of his guest's voice.

Kaine sighed quietly. "You healed me didn't you, Elly?" he looked down, feeling like he failed at protecting her. He never wanted her to be in harm's way. He cared about his friends deeply and wished to keep them safe. "They were after me right?" "I'm the one they want..so its my fault.." he paused and continued "I wish I could end it, Exavier. All the pain in this world." his voice was determined.

Elly noticed the change in Exavier's emotions and she gave him a concerned look, but said nothing. "Kaine..You can't just end pain..It exists in every heart as does the darkness." her voice sounded strong, and she knew she was right.

Exavier came to. Shaking off the thoughts that had his mind in dark places. "All worlds begin in darkness, and all so end. The heart is no different. Darkness sprouts within it, grows, consumes it. Such is its nature. In the end, every heart returns to the darkness whence it came. You see, darkness is the heart's true essence. That is what the past has taught me." Exavier's expression was somber, "Darkness breeds pain, so pain is, in the end,unavoidable." The quote from Ansem left a bad taste in his mouth. He never cared for Ansem even though he finally believed as Ansem did.

Kaine listened to Exavier's quote, realizing it was completely true. He nodded and said "It is unavoidable in the end." with that, he walked over to the table Exavier was setting and whispered "Why is it I, who was chosen for this?"

Elly tried to send calming waves to both of the boys, noticing the somberness in Exavier. Her power over emotions could be a bad thing, or a good thing. She didn't know how or why, but shes always been able to control them.

Before answering Kaine he turned to Elly. "That won't work on someone who is without a heart." Upon finishing that he moved his trench coat aside and pulled his shirt up and below his right breast was a scar. "The saddest part is, I gave it to them, I thought that it would keep them away." he paused,old memories that he refused to share returning. "As for why it chose you, I don't know. Even the one before you doubted himself, maybe, had I been like Axel and just listened to him. We wouldn't be in this mess." In his mind he quoted Sora, a thing he'd never do out-loud after being the reason the young boy is dead A scattered dream that's like a far-off memory. A far-off memory that's like a scattered dream. I want to line a pieces up--
yours and mine.

Kaine gazed at Exavier thinking for a moment. "The old Keymaster.. His name was Sora right?" he had heard that name when he was a young boy. All he knew was he controlled the Keyblade, the one which chose him, just like it chose me, he thought to himself. 'I need to be brave, and I need to be strong, so we can fix this.' was his thoughts. "Right! We can fix this, Exavier. I won't let you down." he said in a very determined voice.

Elly's expression turned glum. "No heart, huh?" she really had to reconsider her actions, she sighed and wondered what kind of perilous adventures they'd have to go on to save the worlds.

"You've been thrown into a war that has been building for centuries. Sora almost brought about its close, he probably would have if he didn't die." Exavier trailed off. he started speaking again after he shook off his thoughts. "A group known as Organization XIII is trying to control the Heartless. They have been successful only in finding triggers to draw them out. The masterkey does that. They want the master key holder to be able to completely control them." He paused letting this news sink in. "We have to retrace my steps, and ascend my memories to rebuild the worlds as the once were."

Kaine gasped. "A war that has been around that long needs to meet its end before the darkness consumes everything. Darkness, which is found in every heart, destroys, But too in each heart lies a light that shines, I need to find that light and hold to it with all my will until the war meets its end." he told them, in a new empowered voice. "Ascend the Memory and end this eternal nightmare, once and for all. Exavier, I'll do anything it takes to stop this Organization. Lead us to victory, Exavier."

Elly was impressed with his words and stood there appalled. "I will protect you until the light of my Heart fades forevermore." Elly knew that she had to protect Kaine and Exavier at all costs. She couldn't bear to lose them.

Exavier nervously looked out the window of his upstairs apartment. "The Heartless are here." He said while summoning his Keyblade. Misery was its name, because it came to him when he was at his absolute greatest low. It flashed darkly in his hand. "We have to get to the ship shop, just down the road. Traverse Town isn't safe now. We cannot look behind us, we cannot go to the same place twice, they will catch us. Run! Go! The shop-owner's name is Sid, he will help you out. He helped Sora."

Kaine felt the keyblade materialize in his hand. "Let's do this, guys!" Kaine shouted and ran out the door, keyblade raised. A group of heartless lunged at him, and he swung his keyblade in an arc, slashing all three. With inhuman speed he began slashing every heartless that came at him.

Elly's eyes turned a soft amethyst, and both keyblades appeared. "Exavier! We cannot just leave you here! Come on!" She took off after Kaine, cutting down the heartless surrounding them. Her aura was strong, and wind seemed to come to her naturally, forming a barrier of windblades that surrounded her and Kaine alike.

Exavier triggered a mechanism that was hidden inside the fireplace. 10, 9, 8 he thought silently. He ran outside and yelled at the two kids. "Run! Go!" He formed a earthen tower blocking the alley between them. 5, 4, 3 he thought again as he slashed down several heartless. 1 he thought right as his apartment exploded. He was thrown against the rock and dirt that separated him from Kaine and Elly. A dark aura was left in place of his apartment.

Exavier projected Sora's voice into Sid's mind, "The two kids coming have the master key. They have to get off planet, help them, please."

Exavier turned and cut down several of the close heartless. His trap was attracting them, just like it was supposed to. He launched his Misery into their ranks. The keyblade cut smoothly through every heartless it came in contact with. he raced through their ranks, palm thrusting all he was close to. He caught his keyblade before it crashed to the ground and jumped swinging it down on a giant armored heartless. The giant heartless fell from the one hit. He turned to face the others.

He projected his voice into Kaine and Elly's minds, "Goodbye, I will catch up with you." His keyblade flashed in his hand as he went into battle with the rest of the heartless.

Kaine spun to look at the giant earthen wall. "Wow..He's really strong.." just then, a huge armored heartless grabbed him and slashed at Kaine's neck. Kaine kicked the Heartless and grabbed the Keyblade thrusting it forward, which easily cut through the heartless. As it was fading, Kaine jumped into the air and slashed violently at the heartless surrounding Elly and him, killing them all. "Lets go Elly!" Kaine sprinted towards the Shop, hitting all the heartless around him with his Keyblade and palm.

Elly nodded at Kaine, and ran towards the shop, exuding magical auras, which blasted at nearby heartless with bursts of wind and light. She spun, and slashed every heartless down that came near her. Thats when a gigantic heartless like the one they fought on the mountain appeared. She lobbed Elegant Rose through the Gigantic Heartless's center, and it dissipated into shadows, disappearing for good. "Kaine! Come on!" She made it to the stone steps that were right below the door to Cid's shop.
